Maurizio Leschiutta named new Lamborghini head of Motorsport

He will report directly to Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer

Lamborghini Squadra Corse announced the arrival of Maurizio Leschiutta as its new head of Motorsport. Leschiutta will report directly to Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer who, as interim Head of Motorsport, led Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s maiden LMDh assault in both FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

With over 30 years of experience in motorsport at the highest level, most notably as part of BMW’s LMDh project in the FIA WEC and the IMSA, Leschiutta will oversee all facets of Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s racing programmes from 2025 starting with the 24 Hours at Daytona (January 25-26) where Lamborghini will enter its SC63 as a Squadra Corse entrant for the first time. At the wheel for this historic debut will be factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara. Additionally, Lamborghini will return to GTD Pro with its Huracán GT3 EVO2, together with Pfaff Motorsport and Lamborghini Factory Drivers Andrea Caldarelli, Jordan Pepper and Marco Mapelli.

Leschiutta’s role will include the continued development of the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh prototype during its second IMSA GTP campaign and the GT3 Customer Racing portfolio. The Huracán GT3 EVO2 will race in the most important GT championships worldwide, including the DTM, (following Lamborghini’s maiden title victory in 2024), GT World Challenge Europe, British GT and Italian GT with the aim of adding to the exceptional achievements of the last year, when Lamborghini collected 6 drivers titles and 34 victories.

The latter will be of particular interest in 2025, with the new Temerario GT3 set to conduct its first outdoor testing programme in the early part of the year, before being officially unveiled to the public at a later date.
